Deluxe Edition Contents & Upgrades

Quick Answer

Digital Deluxe adds craftable cosmetics and home decorations. Physical Deluxe adds a disc and collectibles. Existing owners need the upgrade for their matching platform; the DLC requires the base game.

Digital Deluxe adds craftable cosmetic gear and home decorations. Physical Deluxe adds a game disc and collectibles as well as the digital extras. If you already own RuneScape: Dragonwilds, look for the Deluxe Edition Upgrade on your platform rather than purchasing another base-game bundle.

The upgrade is DLC, so it needs the base game. The Steam upgrade listing explicitly requires the Steam version of Dragonwilds. Its gear is described as equal in stats to existing equipment; Deluxe is a choice about appearance and decoration rather than a stronger starting loadout.

Standard, Digital Deluxe and Physical Deluxe compared

VersionBase gameDigital Deluxe extrasPhysical collectiblesBest fit
Standard EditionYesNoNoYou want the game without the Deluxe extras
Digital Deluxe EditionYesYesNoYou are buying the game for the first time and want the extras
Deluxe Edition UpgradeRequired separatelyYesNoYou already own the matching base game
Physical Deluxe EditionGame discYesYesYou want the disc and collector's items

The Xbox Digital Deluxe listing identifies the base game and Deluxe Edition Upgrade as the two products in its bundle. That distinction matters when comparing a bundle price with the cheaper upgrade: they are not the same purchase.

Jagex's physical-edition announcement names PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S disc editions. Check the exact platform and disc compatibility of a retail copy before ordering. The announcement did not confirm a physical PC collector's option or a physical Switch 2 release, so it should not be used as evidence that either is available.

What the digital extras include

The official Steam DLC description lists:

  • Gilded Armour and Cape: craftable gear for wearing or displaying.
  • Six OSRS-inspired helmets: low-poly alternatives to standard helmets at their respective material tiers.
  • Four dragon-head wall decorations: buildable mounts for your home.
  • Ten paintings: placeable artwork based on Ashenfall.
  • Two animated animal decorations: Muncher and a Chinchompa, each resting in a bed.
Digital Deluxe cosmetic equipment and home decoration contents

Muncher and the Chinchompa are described as decorations at home. Buy on that basis; the listing does not promise a travelling combat companion or a mount.

The armour and helmets are craftable items, so an unlock is not a promise that a complete finished equipment set appears in your inventory. The content also includes objects you build and place. These are the practical differences to check if you only want one particular cosmetic.

Where to find the unlocked items

Check the Armour Bench for the craftable armour and helmets. For the placeable items, open the build menu's decoration category; the dragon-head decorations appear under trophies. You still need the materials for each item before crafting or placing it.

This in-game Deluxe showcase demonstrates the decoration menu and then checks the Armour Bench requirements. If you have only the early crafting bench, progress to the Armour Bench rather than expecting its armour recipes in that first station. The showcase also demonstrates why buying the upgrade does not mean every cosmetic is immediately craftable on a fresh character.

The armour's stats and upgrades

The Steam description compares the Gilded Armour to Level 4 armour crafted at the Armour Bench and states that Digital Deluxe gear is statistically equal to equipment already in the game. It describes the OSRS Medium Helms as sidegrades.

The gear can be upgraded using Ascension Cores earned through gameplay and the Nightmare Crucible in Umbral Sands. Buying the DLC does not replace that gameplay progression. If your priority is improving your equipment rather than changing its look, compare your ordinary crafting options in the armour guide.

What Physical Deluxe adds

Jagex's physical-edition announcement describes these collector's items:

  • A collector's box with an illustrated Steelbook.
  • Three embroidered combat-skill patches for Melee, Magic and Ranged.
  • Five holographic character cards.
  • A cloth map of Ashenfall.

The physical release includes a game disc for the announced PlayStation and Xbox editions, plus the Digital Deluxe content. These physical objects are not part of the standalone digital upgrade.

Physical Deluxe Edition collector contents

The cloth map covers Ashenfall through the Scorned Wilderness content at 1.0. It is a fixed printed map, so later world additions will not appear on that item.

The announcement was written for preorders. Its wording does not establish that a retailer currently has stock, that an order will ship immediately, or that every region has the same release arrangements. The retail pages checked on 20 October 2026 did not establish general immediate availability: GameStop displayed unavailable/out-of-stock text, while the captured Target listing did not confirm an orderable stock status.

Choose the right purchase for your existing copy

Already own the game on Steam: the Steam Deluxe Edition Upgrade is the relevant add-on. Its base-game requirement is on the product page, including for players who bought during Early Access.

Buying digitally for the first time: compare Standard plus the upgrade with the Digital Deluxe bundle on your own storefront. The extras listed above determine whether the additional spend is useful to you.

Want the Steelbook, patches, cards or cloth map: look at the Physical Deluxe product. The digital upgrade does not include those objects. Check local stock and shipping information directly on the retailer's current listing.

Considering moving from Steam to the Jagex Launcher: Jagex's announcement says those are separate platforms. Owning the Steam copy does not itself grant access through the Jagex Launcher. Do not assume the word “upgrade” transfers your game licence between storefronts.

Price snapshots and platform limits

The listings captured on 20 October 2026 showed US$9.99 for the Steam upgrade and US$39.99 for the Xbox Digital Deluxe bundle. The Xbox bundle included the base game; the Steam upgrade did not. These are dated storefront snapshots, not prices for every currency, region or future sale.

For a purchase now, confirm the price, platform and included products on the storefront you will use. The older preorder announcement lists digital editions across several platforms, but it cannot confirm today's local stock or pricing.
