Glass & Glass Vessel Crafting

Quick Answer

Grind limestone and sandstone, then smelt three of each ground material into one Molten Glass. Turn it into a Glass Vessel at the Jeweler's Bench; sandstone grinding yields five ground pieces.

To make a Glass Vessel, smelt 3 Ground Limestone + 3 Ground Sandstone into 1 Molten Glass at a Blast Furnace, then craft that Molten Glass into a vessel at a Jeweler's Bench. You need both stations: the furnace makes the intermediate material, while the bench makes the finished glass item. Bring a Mithril Pickaxe if you are gathering the Limestone yourself.

The same Molten Glass can become a Glass Pane or Glass Decoration instead. Choose Glass Vessel when a potion or weapon recipe asks for a vessel. These recipes follow the community Wiki's Molten Glass entry, checked on 20 October 2026.

Gather and grind the two stone types

You need Limestone and Sandstone, then their ground versions. Raw stone cannot replace the ground ingredients in the Molten Glass recipe.

  • Limestone: look around bodies of water in Dowdun Reach. The Limestone entry places its rocks across that region.
  • Sandstone: found in the Fractured Plains, Stormtouched Highlands, Dowdun Reach and Umbral Sands. Dowdun Reach can therefore supply both raw materials on the same gathering trip.

Use a Mithril Pickaxe for the Limestone run. The tool is shown in the Limestone gathering walkthrough, and the same requirement is stated in the Molten Glass walkthrough. If you are still preparing its leather ingredient, follow the Cursed Leather guide before setting out.

Take the stone to a Grindstone. The current community tables list different conversion rates for the two materials:

Raw inputGround output
1 Limestone1 Ground Limestone
1 Sandstone5 Ground Sandstone

The five-piece Sandstone yield appears in both the Sandstone and Grindstone entries. Do not budget Sandstone and Limestone as though they have identical grinding yields.

If you have not unlocked the Grindstone, receive Granite into your inventory first. Keep the station uncovered: its entry states that a roof above it prevents operation. The Ground Stone guide covers the wider grinding setup.

Smelt Molten Glass, then select the finished item

  1. Load the Blast Furnace with 3 Ground Limestone and 3 Ground Sandstone per Molten Glass.
  2. Supply Fuel Pellets to run it.
  3. Collect the Molten Glass and take it to a Jeweler's Bench.
  4. Select Glass Vessel and use 1 Molten Glass to produce 1 vessel.

For the furnace's construction and operating setup, see the Furnace guide.

A missing Jeweler's Bench is a separate obstacle from a missing glass ingredient. The bench entry says receiving a Silver Bar into your inventory unlocks it. Building one requires 12 Oak Planks, 8 Ground Sandstone, 2 Gold Bars, 2 Silver Bars and 1 Vault Core. That construction cost is additional to the materials you intend to turn into glass.

At the bench, each of the following consumes 1 Molten Glass and produces 1 item:

Bench outputChoose it for

Glass PaneConstruction recipes naming Glass Pane
Glass DecorationThe decoration itself

Molten Glass is not the completed vessel, and a pane is not a substitute for a vessel. Check the output name before crafting a large batch.

Budget a batch of vessels

Because the final conversion is one-to-one, the number of vessels determines how much Molten Glass to smelt. These totals use the community Wiki's grinding yields and exclude station construction and furnace fuel.

Glass VesselsMolten GlassGround LimestoneGround SandstoneRaw LimestoneRaw Sandstone to grind
113331, leaving 2 Ground Sandstone
551515153

For a batch of ten vessels, gather 30 Limestone and 6 Sandstone. Grind them into 30 of each powder, smelt ten Molten Glass, then craft ten vessels. If you also want panes or decorations, add their Molten Glass needs before calculating the batch.

Reserve glass for the recipe you want

The Glass Vessel entry lists these uses, among others:

If you are making windows, reserve Glass Panes instead. Both the Narrow Stained Glass Window Wall and Stained Glass Window Wall use 2 Glass Panes + 4 Stone Blocks in the Build Menu. Those two panes consume two Molten Glass; they do not require Glass Vessels.
