RuneScape Dragonwilds Wild Anima is made by refining 4 Anima-Infused Bark into 1 Wild Anima at a Kiln. The bark is a ground pickup found around anima trees and certain crystal trees in the Fractured Plains. Walk around the base of those trees and collect the loose pieces; you do not get the bark by chopping the tree, and no special axe is part of the collection method.
The important planning limit is the four-to-one conversion. Decide what you want to craft before refining your whole supply, because Anima-Infused Bark is also an ingredient in several recipes of its own. Wild Anima is a magical crafting component used in mage equipment, selected weapons, utility items, and upgraded potions. It is useful for magical construction, but it is not a substitute for aligned runes or a material that can be turned directly into spellcraft.
Wild Anima recipe and requirements
| Input | Facility | Output |
|---|---|---|
| 4 Anima-Infused Bark | Kiln | 1 Wild Anima |
There is no skill requirement listed for this conversion. The workstation is specifically the Kiln. A forge, Armour Bench, Blacksmith's Bench, and Mystic Forge are used for some of the finished products that consume Wild Anima, but they do not perform the bark-to-anima conversion.
Wild Anima has a listed weight of 2.0 and a stack limit of 99. Anima-Infused Bark has a listed weight of 0.8 and the same stack limit of 99. Those values matter when you are collecting a large batch, but the recipe ratio is the key number to remember: each finished Wild Anima represents four pieces of bark.
Where to find Anima-Infused Bark
Travel to the Fractured Plains and look for anima trees or certain crystal trees. Anima-Infused Bark appears on the ground around them. The pickup is a separate object at the foot of the tree, so scan the full base rather than focusing on the trunk or trying to harvest the wood.
The tree is visually unusual compared with ordinary trees, which makes the canopy and shape useful landmarks once you know what you are looking for. The actual bark pieces are much smaller. Approach the tree, circle it, and check the ground from more than one angle so that roots, grass, or the trunk do not hide a pickup.

Large anima trees in the Fractured Plains mark the area where Anima-Infused Bark can be found.
Picking up one piece awards 7 Woodcutting experience. That experience gain does not turn the collection into a chopping task: the correct interaction is still to pick up the loose bark. These trees are found across the Fractured Plains, rather than at one unique pickup point. If one known tree has no visible bark, search other qualifying trees in the biome instead of attacking the empty trunk.

Collect the loose bark pieces from the ground around the tree.
A reliable collection sequence
- Enter the Fractured Plains with enough free inventory space. Wild Anima is produced at a Kiln later, so the field objective is Anima-Infused Bark.
- Identify an anima tree or a qualifying crystal tree. Use the unusual tree itself as the large landmark, then switch your attention to the ground.
- Walk a complete circle around the base. Pick up each visible Anima-Infused Bark object. Do not stop after checking only the side from which you approached.
- Repeat at other qualifying trees. The resource is found throughout the biome, so a route between known trees is more dependable than treating a single point as the only source.
- Count your bark before leaving. Keep the total in multiples of four for the Wild Anima you need, then add any bark that must remain unrefined for bark-only recipes.
- Return to a Kiln. Load four bark for each Wild Anima in your plan and start the conversion.
- Move the output to the correct finishing station. The next station depends on the target recipe: for example, Wizard clothing uses the Armour Bench, while a Staff of Light uses the Mystic Forge.
This sequence prevents the two most common resource-planning errors: returning with a number of bark that cannot complete the intended Wild Anima batch, and refining bark that was supposed to remain available for another recipe.
How much Anima-Infused Bark you need
Use the conversion formula before gathering:
required bark = required Wild Anima × 4
The table below applies that formula to several crafting targets. The bark-equivalent column covers only the Wild Anima portion of each recipe; every item also needs the other materials shown in its own recipe.
| Crafting target | Wild Anima required | Bark equivalent | Crafting facility |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wizard Hat | 1 | 4 | Armour Bench |
| Wizard Robe Legs | 2 | 8 | Armour Bench |
| Wizard Robes | 4 | 16 | Armour Bench |
| All three listed Wizard pieces | 7 | 28 | Armour Bench |
| Blightwood Wand | 3 | 12 | Mystic Forge |
| Blightwood Battlestaff | 6 | 24 | Mystic Forge |
| Staff of Light | 8 | 32 | Mystic Forge |
| Anti-Dragon Shield | 4 | 16 | Blacksmith's Bench |
| Imbued Granite Maul Head | 4 | 16 | Blacksmith's Bench |
| Imbuing Barrel | 4 | 16 | Build Menu |
| Lesser Magic Potion | 1 | 4 | Brewing Cauldron |
| One listed super potion upgrade | 1 | 4 | Imbuing Barrel |
For a mixed crafting plan, add the Wild Anima requirements first and multiply the final total by four. Keep the other materials on a separate list so that refining enough bark does not hide a missing crafting ingredient.
Keep some bark unrefined for bark recipes
Anima-Infused Bark is not merely an intermediate material. Several items consume the bark directly, so converting every piece into Wild Anima can force another trip to the Fractured Plains.
| Bark-based target | Anima-Infused Bark required | Facility |
|---|---|---|
| Cooling Arcane Infusion | 1 | Cooking Range |
| Oak Wand | 3 | Mystic Forge |
| Crystal Bow | 4 | Fletching Bench |
| Imbued Leather Wrappings | 5 | Blacksmith's Bench |
| Oak Battlestaff | 6 | Mystic Forge |
Separate the bark reserved for these items before loading the Kiln. If your plan is an Oak Battlestaff plus two Wild Anima, the correct collection target is 14 bark: six stay as bark, while eight enter the Kiln. Treating all 14 as refinery input would leave you without the six direct ingredients required by the staff recipe.
This distinction also explains why a crafting menu may show both materials in nearby progression. Oak magic weapons consume Anima-Infused Bark directly, while the later Wild Anima recipes use the refined component. They are related resources, not interchangeable names for the same item.
What Wild Anima is used for
Wild Anima supports several different crafting goals. Choose a target category first so that you gather a deliberate amount rather than processing bark without a plan.
Mage clothing and weapons
Wizard clothing uses Wild Anima at the Armour Bench, with one, two, and four units required for the Hat, Robe Legs, and Robes respectively. The three-piece group consumes seven Wild Anima. Reserve enough cloth and thread for the clothing before treating that anima total as a complete equipment budget.
Blightwood Wand, Blightwood Battlestaff, and Staff of Light use three, six, and eight Wild Anima respectively at the Mystic Forge. These recipes have other wood, thread, gem, or Vault-material requirements. Pick the weapon you intend to use before committing bark to a larger batch.
Defensive, melee, and utility crafting
Wild Anima also supports defensive equipment, melee components, and utility building. These are the anima costs rather than complete recipes:
| Target | Wild Anima required | Facility |
|---|---|---|
| Anti-Dragon Shield | 4 | Blacksmith's Bench |
| Imbued Granite Maul Head | 4 | Blacksmith's Bench |
| Zombie Arm | 4 | Blacksmith's Bench |
| Magical Focus | 1 | Blacksmith's Bench |
| Agility Orb | 1 | Build Menu |
| Imbuing Barrel | 4 | Build Menu |
| Wild Anima decoration | 1 | Build Menu |
The Imbuing Barrel introduces a second demand: building it takes four Wild Anima, and later potion upgrades consume additional units. Keep the station-construction budget separate from the materials you plan to feed into it.
Potions and upgrades
A Lesser Magic Potion uses 1 Snapdragon, 1 Wild Anima, and 1 Clay Vessel at a Brewing Cauldron. The Imbuing Barrel uses one Wild Anima when upgrading each of these listed potions:
- Antifire Potion to Super Antifire Potion
- Antipoison Potion to Super Antipoison Potion
- Focused Agility Potion to its super version
- Focused Attack Potion to its super version
- Focused Construction Potion to its super version
- Focused Cooking Potion to its super version
- Focused Farming Potion to its super version
- Focused Fishing Potion to its super version
- Focused Mining Potion to its super version
- Focused Runecrafting Potion to its super version
- Focused Woodcutting Potion to its super version
Each listed upgrade consumes one Wild Anima, so each represents four bark before the other potion ingredients are considered. If you are preparing several different upgrades, count the number of finished super potions you intend to make and reserve one Wild Anima for each.
Other ways to obtain the materials
Refining gathered bark is the clear, repeatable route because its input and output are fixed. Two additional sources can supply Wild Anima directly:
| Direct source | Quantity | Listed rarity |
|---|---|---|
| Wildcaller Druid | 1 | Always |
| Misc. Salvage | 3–6 | 5.26/100 |
Wildcaller Druid drops can supplement a gathering trip, while Misc. Salvage is a random source. Do not rely on a random salvage result when a crafting project requires an exact amount. Bark collection and Kiln processing give you direct control over the production quantity.
Anima-Infused Bark can also appear in Ghornfell Gold reward packs at 1–4 pieces with a 1/5 rarity, or Ghornfell Silver reward packs at 1–3 with the same rarity. Domri - The Merchant sells bark. Check those supplies when you already have access, while keeping Fractured Plains pickups as your planned gathering route.
Problems that stop the recipe from working
- You are hitting the tree instead of searching the ground. Anima-Infused Bark is a loose pickup around the base. Chopping is not the acquisition step.
- You brought the wrong bark total. The Kiln needs four bark per Wild Anima. A remainder of one, two, or three cannot complete another unit.
- You are using the wrong workstation. The conversion happens at a Kiln. The Armour Bench, Blacksmith's Bench, Mystic Forge, Brewing Cauldron, Imbuing Barrel, and Build Menu belong to later recipes.
- You refined bark reserved for an Oak weapon or another bark recipe. Set direct-use bark aside before starting the Kiln.
- You are treating Wild Anima as a rune replacement. Its journal description says its motes are unaligned and prone to strange reactions; it is useful for magical construction but cannot be converted into true spellcraft.
- You expected one known tree to be the only source. The resource appears around anima trees and certain crystal trees across the Fractured Plains. Search another qualifying tree when a familiar base is empty.
- You counted only the Wild Anima and ignored the rest of the recipe. Converting enough bark satisfies one component. It does not replace the required cloth, thread, wood, gems, Vault materials, potion base, or correct finishing station.
See Staff of Light crafting requirements for the requirements and steps of that next task.
