The current RuneScape Dragonwilds roadmap points to Luminance in December 2026, followed by the Blood Crystal Saga in 2027. Prayer is planned with Luminance, Hunter is announced for the next saga, and official mod creation tools with an in-game browser and installer are planned for the first half of 2027. These are announced updates, not features you can already use in the October 9 version.
The released version is 1.0.0.8, announced on October 8. The next immediate patch is 1.0.1, expected the following week. If you are checking the roadmap because a world disappeared or a character became corrupted, read the patch status first: a future content announcement is not confirmation that your save has already been restored.
Separate the live patch from the future content schedule
| Update or feature | Current status | Timing you can use for planning |
|---|---|---|
| 1.0.0.8 hotfix | Released | October 8, 2026 |
| 1.0.1 | Announced next patch | The week following the October 8 notice |
| Luminance | Announced winter update | December 2026 |
| Blood Crystal Saga | Announced next saga | 2027 |
| Official mod tools and in-game installer | Announced | First half of 2027 |
| Hunter | Announced future skill | With the coming saga; no exact release day provided |
Use the table as a status check, not a countdown. An announced month leaves room for further patch notes, platform rollout information, and changes before launch. A precise day would be more specific than the current announcement, so do not plan a group session around a date that has not been published.
The 1.0 release already concluded Kuldra's Saga and opened its endgame progression. Luminance begins the story that follows that conclusion. You do not need to interpret the future saga as proof that the current game is still waiting for its original full launch.

What the October hotfix changes now
Version 1.0.0.8 is live on Xbox, PS5, Epic Games Store, Steam, Jagex Launcher, and Nintendo Switch 2. Its stated fix addresses an issue that could cause world saves to disappear under certain conditions. Dedicated servers need restarting to apply the hotfix.
That fix and the recovery of previously missing worlds are separate items. The October 8 notice says worlds that had already disappeared will remain invisible until 1.0.1. It describes restoration with expectation rather than an unconditional guarantee. If your world is missing on 1.0.0.8, the patch announcement does not say that creating a replacement world will recover the old one.
The announced 1.0.1 work also addresses corrupted characters being able to join worlds again, with items and skill levels as compensation for lost progress. This belongs to the next-patch announcement. Treat it as upcoming behavior until the patch is released and you have checked its actual notes and your platform's installed version.
For dedicated servers, the same notice identifies an ongoing issue with SteamCMD update requests being rate limited. A server that has not pulled the new patch successfully can remain a separate problem from a client that already has it. Review the installed server version and restart after the update, while keeping save recovery expectations tied to the relevant patch.
Luminance is the next major story step
Luminance is planned as a free December update and a prelude to the Blood Crystal Saga. Its story follows Ceridwen and her child, two elves fleeing the bounty hunter Morwyn. Your role is to protect them as Ashenfall moves into the next chapter after Kuldra.
The announced approach includes music rather than simply another set of combat encounters. You will master the Lyre and resonate with Songstones. Fairy Rings are also part of the reveal, with resonance opening journeys to hidden destinations across Ashenfall.
Those descriptions establish the intended direction. They do not yet establish a complete crafting recipe, a list of all destinations, an interaction sequence, or the materials needed to unlock each journey. If you are preparing now, keep space available for new progression instead of stockpiling an invented Lyre ingredient list.
Luminance also introduces new weapons, armour, and vestiges associated with Harmonised Crystal Fragments. The announcement describes tracking down the equipment using these fragments. It does not provide an exact fragment cost for each item or a complete farming route. Existing equipment can remain your current progression target while the new recipes and acquisition details are still pending.

Prayer is planned for Luminance
Prayer is announced with the winter update. The reveal mentions altars, scattering ashes, and burying bones, while explicitly saying that this version of Prayer will differ from the skill in RuneScape and Old School RuneScape.
That distinction matters for returning RuneScape players. Familiar names do not make the Dragonwilds skill's experience rates, protection effects, altar bonuses, or training loop identical to another game. The announcement promises more details closer to release. Until those details arrive, a RuneScape Prayer guide cannot serve as a verified Dragonwilds training route.
You can make practical room in your base for an altar area if you expect to use the new skill. The present reveal supports that space-planning decision. It does not support an exact altar footprint, a construction material shopping list, or a claim that a particular bone will be the most efficient training item.
Keep Prayer in your future-planning category. It is not one of the already trainable skills in the October snapshot, and the skill appearing on a roadmap does not mean your current character has a hidden activation quest waiting somewhere in Ashenfall.
Elven customization and a new building kit
The winter reveal includes elven facial features, ears, weapons, and armour. These are aesthetic and equipment additions tied to the forthcoming update. They give you a clearer idea of the visual direction, but the announcement does not list every available customization option or say that each option needs a separate quest.
For builders, Luminance introduces a kit inspired by Prifddinas: green-and-white architecture with new arched roof pieces. This is a concrete reason to leave expansion space around a base you want to redesign. You can plan a courtyard, a new wing, or a future roof replacement without dismantling a working setup before the pieces arrive.
Do not treat the Prifddinas-inspired kit as a statement that the complete city is becoming an explorable Dragonwilds region in December. The building style and the next saga's city are different parts of the reveal. Ailddinas is the city discussed for the coming story; the kit takes its architectural inspiration from Prifddinas.
Song of Rebellion opens the Blood Crystal Saga
The announced Blood Crystal Saga begins with Song of Rebellion, in which rebel elves seek help against the Nos Clan. You will be welcomed into Ailddinas, a city of crystalline spires and forest that has been corrupted along with its surrounding woodland.
This is the principal location change described for the next story chapter. The reveal establishes a city, a forest, the rebels, and the Nos Clan threat. It does not yet provide a complete route through the region or state that the chapter's enemies can already be found in the current wilderness.
The chapter also brings new creatures, including Implings, variants of kebbits, grizzly bears, and birds. These support the announcement of Hunter. Rather than merely adding another combat training method, the reveal describes learning to sneak, trap, and collect creatures, using new elven equipment.
Hunter's name therefore belongs to a specific planned activity loop. It does not establish existing trap recipes or imply that current hunting-like activities already grant Hunter experience. Wait for the skill's launch details before deciding which materials or creatures to farm for it.

Crown of Night continues the conflict
Crown of Night is another announced chapter. It sends heroes into the Nos Clan's territory, where a perpetual eclipse creates an eternal night. The chapter centers on fighting back against the clan and its expanding influence.
The reveal names the Light of Seren and new legendary weapons and armour. It also mentions the Dark Bow and Ivandis Flail as iconic weapons to seek, with the princes of the Nos Clan serving as major opponents. These names identify the chapter's direction and expected equipment themes.
They are not present-day acquisition instructions. A claim that you can already craft the chapter's Dark Bow from a specific set of materials would need released recipes, and the current roadmap does not supply them. Likewise, the revealed princes do not establish complete attack patterns, a boss order, or a recommended resistance build.
For a returning player choosing what to complete before the saga, focus on the current story and equipment goals that are already playable. The roadmap provides a reason to keep a character and base ready for expansion, while the exact next-chapter entrance requirements still need release-specific information.
Official modding has its own announced window
Official modding is planned for all platforms, with dedicated creation tools and an in-game mod browser and installer. The announced window is the first half of 2027, coinciding with Song of Rebellion, Secure Servers, and Leaderboards.
That statement is broader than the existence of third-party PC mods today. It describes an official creation and installation system that is still upcoming. If you are deciding whether to wait for built-in support, the roadmap supports that choice, but it does not promise that every current community mod will automatically work with the future browser.
The announcement groups several features within a rollout window. It does not give a separate exact launch day for the installer, every platform's toolset, Secure Servers, or Leaderboards. Keep those features in the first-half-of-2027 planning window unless a later release notice refines the schedule.
Decide whether to return now or wait for the next chapter
Return now if your main goal is finishing the released Kuldra progression, improving an existing base, or continuing the current skill and equipment systems. Wait for Luminance if your reason to return is specifically Prayer, the Lyre, Fairy Ring resonance, or the announced elven building pieces.
For Hunter, Ailddinas, official mod tools, and the Blood Crystal Saga chapters, use the 2027 announcements as your planning reference. Watch for the actual release notes to answer the questions the roadmap cannot yet settle: entrance requirements, recipes, feature availability, and platform versions.
A missing world needs a different decision. Check the 1.0.1 rollout and the recovery status before treating a future story update as the solution. The current hotfix, the next recovery patch, and the next content chapter each address a different part of your experience.
