Craft Desert Cloth at a roofed Loom with a Loom Harness nearby using 3 Desert Thread and 3 Cactus Fibres for each finished cloth. The operation awards 40 Artisan experience. Desert Cloth is used in power level 7 equipment, Infinity Cloth production, and several Moon Garou furnishings and awning roofs.
The name can be misleading: Desert Robes do not list Desert Cloth in their recipe. That robe recipe uses Garou Weave, Scorch Leather, Refined Obsidian, and Gypsum Wax, with a Sun-Bleached Vest vestige unlock. If your goal is Desert Robes rather than the material itself, verify the actual armour ingredients before producing a large cloth batch.
Check the Exact Desert Cloth Recipe
The Loom needs a roof above it to operate, and this recipe requires its Loom Harness upgrade. Place the Harness within nine metres of the Loom; each Harness supports only one station, with the closest Loom receiving the extra slot. If a sheltered Loom cannot make this cloth, check the Harness and which Loom it is upgrading before gathering more ingredients. The Fine Cloth station guide explains the shared Loom and Harness unlock and building setup.
Desert Cloth is a processed material described as a hard-wearing fabric made from local flora. It weighs 2.0 per item and stacks to 50. Its Loom recipe needs both Desert Thread and Cactus Fibres; the thread alone does not complete the conversion.
| Recipe field | Requirement or result |
|---|---|
| Facility | Loom |
| Desert Thread input | 3 |
| Cactus Fibres input | 3 |
| Desert Cloth output | 1 |
| Artisan experience awarded | 40 |
| Finished item weight | 2.0 |
| Finished item stack limit | 50 |
The experience award is not a skill-level requirement. Do not read the value 40 as proof that you must reach Artisan level 40 before the recipe appears. Check the crafting station and recipe availability directly rather than converting an XP field into an unlock gate.
Likewise, the cloth's association with power level 7 armour does not mean that every recipe using it is an armour upgrade. The same material appears in a watering can, furniture, carpets, and roof pieces. Choose the end product before deciding the production quantity.
Turn Thread and Fibres into Cloth
Count any finished Desert Cloth already available before using the Loom. The recipe runs one cloth at a time, so the material cost for a new batch is three times the target count for each input. Keeping the two input totals equal in the calculation makes shortages easy to spot.
- Check the Desert Cloth cost of the item you want to make.
- Subtract any finished cloth already reserved for that project.
- Gather three Desert Thread for every remaining cloth.
- Gather three Cactus Fibres for every remaining cloth.
- Select the Desert Cloth recipe at the Loom.
- Complete the operations and collect the finished cloth for its intended use.

For example, a Moon Garou Bed needs four Desert Cloth. If you already have one, your new target is three cloth, requiring nine thread and nine fibres. Producing another four would be a valid craft, but it would consume an extra three of each input without being necessary for that bed.
If the Loom output stops before your planned total, review both ingredient counts. Twelve thread and six fibres support two cloth, leaving six thread unused. Twelve fibres and six thread also support only two cloth. The limiting ingredient determines how many complete three-and-three operations you can perform.
This is an ingredient calculation rather than a promise about production speed. The recipe provides the cost, output, and Artisan XP for each operation. It does not establish how quickly a particular queue will finish or whether adding stations is worthwhile for your current base.
Calculate a Practical Cloth Batch
| Desert Cloth target | Desert Thread | Cactus Fibres | Loom Artisan XP |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 3 | 3 | 40 |
| 2 | 6 | 6 | 80 |
| 3 | 9 | 9 | 120 |
| 4 | 12 | 12 | 160 |
| 6 | 18 | 18 | 240 |
| 12 | 36 | 36 | 480 |
These totals describe crafting the full target from the two named inputs. Finished cloth from an earlier batch or a loot pickup reduces the amount still needed. Recount the output before multiplying rather than planning the inputs from an equipment total that may already be partly covered.
Desert Cloth can also appear in Umbral Sands chests in quantities of one to two. Treat chest cloth as a useful supplement when you find it. It is not guaranteed at every chest, so a project requiring a fixed cloth total should not depend on receiving that amount from a single container.
Keep the cloth as cloth until you know its destination. Converting it into Infinity Cloth makes it available to that next recipe chain, but it also consumes the Desert Cloth needed by other items. The advanced material is not a universal replacement for the original.
Reserve Desert Cloth for Adamant Equipment
Several Adamant armour pieces use Desert Cloth at the Armour Bench. The cloth amounts are relatively small compared with the full supporting recipes, so running the Loom alone will not necessarily remove the main crafting bottleneck.
| Product | Desert Cloth | Adamant Bar | Scorch Leather | Refined Obsidian | Gypsum Wax | Garou Weave |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Adamant Helmet | 1 | 4 | 4 | 1 | 1 | 1 |
| Adamant Med Helm | 1 | 4 | 4 | 1 | 1 | 1 |
| Adamant Platebody | 3 | 10 | 8 | 3 | 3 | 3 |
| Adamant Platelegs | 2 | 6 | 6 | 2 | 2 | 2 |
The helmet and med helm are alternative named crafts in this table; do not automatically include both when calculating a helmet, body, and legs combination. One of either helmet plus the platebody and platelegs needs six Desert Cloth in total. The Loom inputs for that six-cloth portion are 18 Desert Thread and 18 Cactus Fibres.
For a single platebody, the three-cloth requirement means nine thread and nine fibres. Its other ingredients remain ten Adamant Bars, eight Scorch Leather, and three each of Refined Obsidian, Gypsum Wax, and Garou Weave. Inspect those supplies before producing cloth beyond the three needed for the piece.
The Adamant Watering Can is a separate Blacksmith's Bench craft using six Adamant Bars and two Desert Cloth. Its cloth portion requires six thread and six fibres. Reserve that two-cloth amount separately if your plan includes both equipment and a farming tool, because the armour bench can consume the shared supply first.
Allocate Cloth to Furnishings and Roofs
Desert Cloth is also a building material. The exact item variant matters: carpets, rolled carpets, standing carpets, sunshades, and roofs have different costs even when they serve similar decorative roles at your base.

| Building item | Desert Cloth | Other materials |
|---|---|---|
| Moon Garou Armchair | 2 | 4 Yew Planks |
| Moon Garou Bed | 4 | 8 Yew Planks |
| Moon Garou Chair 01 | 2 | 4 Yew Planks |
| Moon Garou Chair 02 | 2 | 4 Yew Planks |
| Moon Garou Table 01 | 2 | 12 Yew Planks |
| Moon Garou Sunshade 01 | 3 | 6 Yew Logs |
| Moon Garou Sunshade 02 | 6 | 12 Yew Logs |
| Moon Garou Carpet 01 | 4 | No additional material listed |
| Moon Garou Carpet 02 | 2 | No additional material listed |
The 01 and 02 carpet costs also appear for their rolled and standing variants: the 01 versions use four cloth, and the 02 versions use two. Pick the intended variant before producing the batch rather than treating every Moon Garou carpet as a four-cloth item.
A Moon Garou Bed and two armchairs together use eight Desert Cloth and 16 Yew Planks. The Loom portion requires 24 thread and 24 fibres. Counting this before construction lets you see whether the fabric supply or the planks are the immediate missing component.
Large Awning Roof recipes use four Desert Cloth and two Yew Logs with either two Redberries or two Flax. Medium Awning Roof recipes use one Desert Cloth and two Yew Logs with either one Redberries or one Flax. The two listed colour-material options do not change the cloth cost of the same roof size.
Moon Garou Table 02 is more demanding than Table 01. It uses two Desert Cloth and 12 Yew Planks, plus two Clay Vessels, eight Silver Bars, and one Glass Decoration. The same two-cloth cost therefore does not imply the same complete supply list.
Keep the Infinity Conversion Separate
One Desert Cloth combines with nine Shimmerscale Powder at the Loom to make one Infinity Cloth. Reserve the original cloth needed by Adamant equipment and furnishings before committing the remainder to that next conversion.
For a combined project, add the Desert Cloth allocation first. A Moon Garou Bed takes four cloth, while a plan to make two Infinity Cloth takes another two. You need six Desert Cloth in total, requiring 18 thread and 18 fibres if none is already available, plus 18 powder for the Infinity portion only.
The powder does not replace either of the Desert Cloth recipe inputs. It belongs to the next conversion after the thread-and-fibre operation has produced the original cloth. Keeping those stages separate prevents a pile of Shimmerscale Powder from obscuring a missing Cactus Fibres requirement at the first Loom step.
Avoid the Desert Robes Naming Trap
Desert Robes are power level 7 magic armour, and wearing additional Desert Robe pieces increases Scorch resistance. The robe recipe is unlocked by purchasing and using the Sun-Bleached Vest vestige from Beartach the Merchant.
The body recipe uses 12 Garou Weave, three Scorch Leather, three Refined Obsidian, and three Gypsum Wax at the Armour Bench. Desert Cloth is absent from that ingredient list. Do not gather a cloth quantity merely from the shared word Desert; check the actual robe recipe and unlock if that is your intended equipment.
This also means that completing a Loom batch does not establish that the Desert Robes recipe has been unlocked. Material production and the vestige unlock are different conditions. Identify which one your current goal requires before making another trip for fabric ingredients.
Check the Item Stage Before Repeating a Trip
Only Desert Thread is available. The Loom also requires Cactus Fibres. Count three of each for every cloth rather than treating thread as the entire input chain.
A crafting recipe asks for Desert Cloth but rejects another fabric. Use the exact named item. Fine Cloth, Mystic Cloth, and Infinity Cloth are separate processed materials, and the listed Desert Cloth recipe does not allow them as substitutes.
A large building plan suddenly runs short. Review the variants and the number of objects. Two Sunshade 02 pieces use twelve cloth, while two Sunshade 01 pieces use six. A small difference in the selected variant can double the fabric portion of the plan.
The goal is Desert Robes and the cloth is unused. Recheck the robe's vestige unlock and Garou Weave-based recipe. Store the cloth for its genuine uses rather than forcing it into an armour recipe that does not list it.
