Corpse Cotton is a Fellhollow material obtained primarily from volatile Corpse Cotton Plants. Hit one with any attack, retreat before it bursts, and collect the dropped fibres after the explosion. A wild plant always drops 5–7 Corpse Cotton and may also drop 1 Corpse Cotton Seed. The blast affects anyone within four metres with 65% Wither, so a ranged attack is the safest way to trigger it.
You need 4 Corpse Cotton and a Spinning Wheel to make 1 Fine Thread. If you only need a small amount, search near the Fellhollow entrance and the bottom of Bleakveil Valley. For a larger supply, expand the route through Lake of Lost Souls, Hope's Fall, and the approaches to Silverthorn Keep, then save any seeds so that you can establish a renewable source at your base.
Corpse Cotton quick reference
| Method | Corpse Cotton received | Main requirement | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wild Corpse Cotton Plant | 5–7 per plant | Access to Fellhollow | The plant explodes and applies 65% Wither within four metres |
| Zogre | 4–8 per enemy | Ability to defeat Zogres | Combat makes this less convenient than harvesting plants |
| Ulgo the Zogre | 4–8 | Ability to defeat this enemy | Not a simple gathering route |
| Farming | Corpse Cotton from a planted seed | Corpse Cotton Seed and a Willow Farming Plot | A seed is not guaranteed from every wild plant |
| Domri the Merchant | Purchased material | 24 Garou Chits per purchase | The item must be available from the merchant |
The stack limit for Corpse Cotton is 50, and each piece has a weight of 0.2. Leave enough inventory space before following a long route. A full stack converts into 12 Fine Thread with 2 Corpse Cotton left over.
Reach Fellhollow before searching
Corpse Cotton Plants are associated with Fellhollow, so searching the earlier regions will not solve the problem. Progress far enough to enter Fellhollow through the route connected to the Forgotten Temple and its Spectral Door. The arrival area places you close to one of the simplest starter searches: the graveyard and the cliffs around the entrance.
Do not rush past this area just because the plants are difficult to notice. Their bulbous, fleshy growths can blend into Fellhollow's dark ground, walls, and environmental clutter. Some grow on the ground while others cling to vertical surfaces. Scan the bases of cliffs and the edges of the path instead of looking only at obvious resource nodes in open terrain.
A bow or another ranged option is useful even when the nearby enemies are manageable. You do not need a particular damage threshold to open a plant; any amount of damage can trigger it. The reason to attack from range is the four-metre blast, not a weapon requirement.
Where to find Corpse Cotton in Fellhollow
Corpse Cotton Plants occur throughout Fellhollow, but a planned route is faster than wandering across the whole region. Start with the accessible entrance patches, then move into denser or more dangerous areas only if you need additional material.
Fellhollow entrance and Bleakveil Valley
The easiest first search begins immediately after entering Fellhollow. Check both sides of the entrance, the graveyard, and the bases of the nearby cliffs. Continue toward the bottom of Bleakveil Valley and inspect the small canyon-like spaces around the path. Plants in this area are easy to walk past because their shape resembles an environmental trap rather than a conventional harvestable crop.
This route is suitable when you need enough Corpse Cotton for a few pieces of Fine Thread. It also gives you an early chance to obtain a seed without committing to a longer trip through hostile territory. If a familiar patch is empty, continue to another cluster instead of waiting beside it; the supplied material does not establish one consistent, reliable respawn timer.
Lake of Lost Souls
Lake of Lost Souls, in the central portion of Fellhollow, is another useful place to search. Inspect the ground and nearby surfaces around the lake rather than limiting the route to the water's edge. The plants can appear in groups, making this area more suitable for a dedicated gathering trip than a quick entrance run.
Place a Lodestone near a route you intend to repeat if you have the resources to spare. This does not change plant yields, but it reduces travel time when the plants have returned. Marking a reliable cluster is especially useful because the plants are visually subtle and can take longer to rediscover than to harvest.

Hope's Fall
A further cluster can be found northwest of the large tower in Hope's Fall. Search around the ruined pillars near the Anima vent. This is a renewable gathering area, but nearby undead enemies can interrupt the route. Clear enough space to collect the drops safely, or trigger plants from range and avoid pulling more enemies than necessary.
Hope's Fall is a better extension to an existing Fellhollow expedition than an automatic first stop. The entrance route is simpler for a small order; Hope's Fall becomes more useful when you are already exploring the surrounding area or need several crafting batches.
Silverthorn Keep and vault routes
Corpse Cotton Plants also appear along the route through the Silverthorn Keep area and can occur in Fellhollow vaults. These locations combine resource gathering with more dangerous exploration. Use them as later additions to the route rather than assuming they are the safest places to learn what the plant looks like.
The practical advantage is efficiency while completing other Fellhollow objectives. The disadvantage is that enemies and confined spaces make it harder to create distance before a plant explodes. Bring a ranged weapon and keep a clear retreat path.
How to harvest a Corpse Cotton Plant safely
- Identify the bulbous plant. Look on the ground, walls, cliff bases, and ruined surfaces. It may resemble a spore trap more than a normal crop.
- Check the space around it. Notice nearby enemies, walls, ledges, and other players. You need room to move outside the four-metre blast radius.
- Attack once from range. Any damage is enough to make the plant burst, so there is no benefit to standing beside it and using repeated attacks.
- Wait for the explosion. Do not approach immediately after the first hit. The blast applies 65% Wither to anyone caught inside its radius.
- Collect the drops. A wild plant provides 5–7 Corpse Cotton. Check the ground for a Corpse Cotton Seed as well, because seeds only appear sometimes.
- Continue to the next cluster. Complete a circuit instead of waiting at one empty patch. Return on a later trip after the world plants have respawned.
A melee attack also works. If that is your only convenient option, strike once and immediately dodge or move backward. Ranged harvesting is still more consistent because it starts you outside the dangerous area and avoids spending stamina on a perfectly timed retreat.
In multiplayer, allow every nearby player to clear the blast zone before triggering the plant. The explosion is an area hazard rather than a danger limited to the attacker. Do not fire at a plant while another player is standing next to it to collect a different resource.
Choose the best source for your situation
Harvest wild plants for the first batch
Wild plants are the most direct source because they require no merchant currency, farm infrastructure, or combat kill. Each one has a fixed listed range of 5–7 Corpse Cotton, enough for at least one Fine Thread with material left over. Two plants provide at least 10 cotton, which converts into two Fine Thread with at least two cotton remaining.
Wild harvesting is also how you obtain the seed needed to begin farming. Treat the first successful seed drop as a long-term resource rather than ordinary inventory clutter.
Fight Zogres only when combat already fits the route
Zogres always drop 4–8 Corpse Cotton, and Ulgo the Zogre has the same listed quantity. These yields overlap with the plant yield, but enemies require a fight while plants burst from any single hit. Zogres therefore work best as a secondary source when you are already fighting them near Hope's Fall, Silverthorn Keep, or a Fellhollow vault.
Do not build a low-risk cotton run around Zogres if the plant route already supplies what you need. Combat consumes time and resources and can complicate collection when other enemies join the fight.
Buy from Domri when time matters more than currency
Domri the Merchant lists Corpse Cotton for 24 Garou Chits. Buying it avoids searching for small, well-camouflaged plants, but it converts a gathering problem into a currency and merchant-access problem. Check the merchant before planning around this method, and compare the cost with the number of Fine Thread you actually need.
Because four cotton make one thread, the listed cotton cost lets you calculate the purchase requirement before spending currency. Avoid buying an arbitrary stockpile when a short entrance route could cover a small crafting order.
Grow Corpse Cotton from seeds
A wild Corpse Cotton Plant may drop 1 Corpse Cotton Seed in addition to its normal fibres. Save that seed and plant it in a Willow Farming Plot. This turns a material that normally requires repeated trips into a resource you can collect at your base.
The important restriction is the initial seed supply. A seed is possible, not guaranteed, so your first few plants may only provide cotton. Keep completing the gathering route until one appears. Do not discard seeds merely because you already have enough cotton for the current recipe.
Use Compost on the planted crop when available to improve the value of the harvest. Farming skill, plot count, compost, and seed recovery can materially change the performance of a large setup, so avoid treating a community farming demonstration as a universal yield promise. Begin with the seed and plots you actually have, observe the result in your current game version, and expand only after the crop returns enough material or replacement seeds to justify more plots.
A practical progression is:
- Harvest wild plants until you obtain your first seed.
- Keep enough loose Corpse Cotton for the immediate Fine Thread recipe.
- Plant the seed in a Willow Farming Plot instead of consuming or storing it indefinitely.
- Apply Compost if it is available in your farming setup.
- Harvest the crop and preserve any recovered seeds.
- Add more plots only when your seed supply supports them.
This method complements rather than immediately replaces wild gathering. The world route supplies your first materials and seeds; the farm reduces future travel once it is established.
Turn Corpse Cotton into Fine Thread
Take the harvested material to a Spinning Wheel. The recipe is:
| Output | Facility | Materials | XP |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 Fine Thread | Spinning Wheel | 4 Corpse Cotton | 20 |
The conversion is exact, so calculate the cotton requirement by multiplying the desired Fine Thread count by four. For example, 5 Fine Thread requires 20 Corpse Cotton, 10 requires 40, and 12 requires 48. A single full stack of 50 cotton produces 12 thread and leaves 2 cotton.
Fine Thread is a refined material used in higher-tier crafting. It also feeds into Fine Cloth production at a Loom: 3 Fine Thread and 1 Gold Bar produce 1 Fine Cloth. That means the thread portion of one Fine Cloth represents 12 Corpse Cotton. Calculate from the final item backward before gathering so you do not stop after collecting only enough cotton for one thread.
The supplied crafting material identifies Fine Cloth as relevant to equipment including Splitbark and Steel Plate armour, while Fine Thread is also associated with other high-tier equipment. Exact equipment costs vary by item, so inspect the recipe you intend to craft and total its Fine Thread or Fine Cloth requirement first.
Common reasons Corpse Cotton farming fails
- You are searching outside Fellhollow. The volatile Corpse Cotton Plants belong to the Fellhollow resource pool. Reach the region before beginning the search.
- You are looking only for a normal flower. The source is a bulbous explosive plant that can grow on the ground or a wall and may look like a trap.
- You walk past the entrance plants. Slow down around the graveyard, cliff bases, and the lower Bleakveil Valley paths.
- You stand beside the plant after attacking. Any hit triggers the burst. Attack from range or retreat immediately to avoid the four-metre Wither blast.
- You expect every plant to drop a seed. The 5–7 cotton drop is guaranteed, but the single seed is only occasional.
- You wait at one harvested patch. Follow a circuit through several clusters and return later; the available material does not support one dependable universal respawn timer.
- You rely on Zogres as the default method. Their 4–8 cotton drop is useful during combat, but wild plants are simpler when cotton is the only objective.
- You craft thread without counting the final recipe. Four cotton make one thread, while one Fine Cloth requires three Fine Thread. Work backward from the armour or equipment recipe.
- Your inventory fills during the route. Corpse Cotton stacks to 50, so clear space before visiting several dense locations.
For the quickest first result, enter Fellhollow with a ranged weapon, inspect both sides of the entrance and the nearby cliff bases, then continue into the bottom of Bleakveil Valley. Trigger each bulb from a safe distance, collect the guaranteed cotton, and save every seed. Convert only the amount required at the Spinning Wheel and use the first seed to begin a repeatable base supply.
