RuneScape Dragonwilds Scorched Leather

Quick Answer

The material often searched as “scorched leather” is named Scorch Leather in RuneScape Dragonwilds. Make one at an Advanced Tannery using one Draconic Leather, two Kalphite Shell, and one Acrid Adhesive.

The material often searched as “scorched leather” is named Scorch Leather in RuneScape Dragonwilds. Make one at an Advanced Tannery using one Draconic Leather, two Kalphite Shell, and one Acrid Adhesive. The recipe produces one Scorch Leather and gives 40 Artisan experience. Ordinary Adhesive is a different item and does not fill the Acrid Adhesive requirement.

Scorch Leather is a processed material used in desert equipment, including Adamant, Infinity, and Kalphite Carapace pieces, as well as selected weapons and tools. Choose the final item before making a batch: the leather requirement ranges from small tool allocations to much larger armour totals, and several recipes also consume Kalphite Shell directly.

Identify Scorch Leather and the correct inputs

Scorch Leather is described as a light, resilient leather suited to desert survival. It weighs 1.2 per item and stacks to 50. Its recipe takes processed Draconic Leather and Acrid Adhesive alongside Kalphite Shell; those named materials are the inputs that must reach the Advanced Tannery.

Scorch Leather

The names are important. Hard Leather and Draconic Leather are different materials, and neither becomes Scorch Leather merely by remaining in storage. Likewise, ordinary Adhesive is not the acrid variant. Read the full output name at the station and compare each input before assuming that an existing leather or adhesive stack solves the recipe.

Acrid Adhesive1Adhesive used by this specific recipe

The 40 Artisan value is the recipe's experience award. It is not a stated level forty requirement. Similarly, the item weight and stack limit describe inventory storage rather than how many inputs the tannery consumes. Keep recipe quantities, skill requirements, and storage properties separate when diagnosing a missing material.

Set up the Advanced Tannery stage

The destination station is the Advanced Tannery. A normal Tannery is not the facility listed for Scorch Leather, so confirm the station before moving a full batch of materials. At the Advanced Tannery, select Scorch Leather and check that the three correct inputs are present in the quantities shown.

Use the current Build Menu for the Advanced Tannery's own unlock and building requirements. The leather recipe is an output recipe, not a list of materials for constructing that station. Building the workshop and producing the leather are two separate tasks; spending your leather inputs does not substitute for a missing station.

A useful completion check is being able to select the Scorch Leather recipe at the Advanced Tannery. Then compare the available Draconic Leather, Kalphite Shell, and Acrid Adhesive with the batch you intend to process. If another station is selected, more materials will not correct that mismatch.

Make Acrid Adhesive at the Kiln

Acrid Adhesive is produced at a Kiln from three Kalphite Ichor, giving one Acrid Adhesive and 20 Artisan experience. This is the processing branch required by Scorch Leather. The ordinary Adhesive recipe uses Swamp Tar instead, so making the familiar tar-based adhesive does not complete the acrid input.

Kiln outputInputOutput quantity

Adhesive1 Swamp Tar1

If you need six Scorch Leather, reserve six Acrid Adhesive. Producing that adhesive from scratch takes eighteen Kalphite Ichor. If you already have two finished Acrid Adhesive, only four remain to process, requiring twelve ichor. Count the finished input you can spend rather than collecting a second full batch unnecessarily.

The Kiln unlocks after you receive Clay in your inventory. Its building recipe uses eight Ash Logs, twenty Stone, six Clay, and ten Fire Runes, and awards twelve Construction experience. Those are station-building materials; the adhesive processing recipe afterward uses Kalphite Ichor. Keep the two lists separate so you do not mistake leftover Clay or Fire Runes for adhesive inputs.

The Kiln processes slowly, and keeping it supplied while doing other tasks is useful. Superheat can speed up its operation, but it does not change Acrid Adhesive's stated input or turn Swamp Tar into Kalphite Ichor. Choose the correct output before applying any convenience spell to the processing station.

Reserve Kalphite Shell for two different uses

Kalphite Shell has a direct place in the Scorch Leather recipe: two shells for each leather. Some finished armour also consumes shells in addition to the leather. If you only count the leather conversion, you can arrive at the Armour Bench with enough Scorch Leather but too few shells left for the final piece.

Kalphite Shell

Kalphite Carapace Chest, for example, needs eight Scorch Leather and fifteen Kalphite Shell as direct inputs. Producing its eight leather consumes another sixteen shells. Starting without finished leather therefore requires 31 shells for the shell portion of that chest project: sixteen for processing and fifteen kept for the Armour Bench.

This is a material budget, rather than a guaranteed number of Kalphite kills. The available recipe defines how many shells will be consumed, but it does not establish a fixed combat route, a drop count per trip, or a refill time for a shell source. Use the actual shell stock in your inventory to check the remaining requirement.

Follow the processing chain without skipping a stage

  1. Select the weapon, tool, or armour piece you intend to make.
  2. Count its Scorch Leather requirement and note any direct Kalphite Shell requirement separately.
  3. Reserve one Draconic Leather and two shells for each Scorch Leather you still need.
  4. Count existing Acrid Adhesive and process any shortage at the Kiln using three Kalphite Ichor each.
  5. Confirm the Advanced Tannery is available and select Scorch Leather.
  6. Supply the three named inputs in the required quantities and collect the finished leather.
  7. Bring the leather and the remaining final-item ingredients to the appropriate crafting station.

The final recipe can still require metal bars, textiles, logs, gems, or other processed materials. A finished leather batch covers one component. Check the rest of the item recipe before committing to a large production target that you cannot yet complete at the destination station.

Calculate a leather batch from raw adhesive inputs

The table includes the ichor needed when all Acrid Adhesive must be made from scratch. If you already own finished adhesive or leather, subtract that stock before processing another batch. The quantities do not include materials for building the stations themselves.

For an Adamant Pickaxe, the leather component is four Scorch Leather. Starting without that material means four Draconic Leather, eight shells, and four Acrid Adhesive, with twelve ichor needed for the adhesive. The completed tool also requires Adamant Bars, Yew Logs, and Gypsum Wax, so prepare those independent inputs as well.

Compare the main armour budgets

Several armour families share Scorch Leather but consume different quantities. The table isolates the leather component of a head, body, and leg set. It is a planning aid, not a claim that the sets have identical other ingredients or are equally suitable for every build.

Choose either the Adamant Helmet or Adamant Med Helm for the head allocation; both listed recipes use four leather. Producing both helmets adds a second head-piece requirement. For the three-piece Adamant example, eighteen leather consumes eighteen Draconic Leather, 36 shells, and eighteen Acrid Adhesive.

A full Kalphite Carapace set needs fourteen leather plus 31 shells directly in its final recipes: six for the helmet, fifteen for the chest, and ten for the legs. Its leather processing consumes 28 more shells, making 59 shells in total when starting without finished leather. This is the clearest case for keeping processing and direct armour allocations separate.

A leather batch also has a carrying cost. Eighteen finished Scorch Leather weighs 21.6, while fourteen weighs 16.8, using the item weight of 1.2 each. The stack limit is fifty, so these example batches fit in a single stack, but the weight still counts. Keep the workshop inputs and finished equipment journey in mind when moving a complete armour allocation between storage and crafting stations.

Keep weapon and tool allocations separate

At the Blacksmith's Bench, an Adamant Sword uses five Scorch Leather, an Adamant Greatsword five, an Adamant Greataxe six, and an Adamant Mace four. An Adamant Warhammer uses three, a Shield four, and a Spade two. These different amounts let you choose a precise batch instead of assuming every Adamant item consumes the same leather.

The current Abyssal Whip recipe uses six Scorch Leather along with an Abysmal Whip, Demonic Oil, Cursed Essence, and Dragonstone. That is a later upgrade recipe, so use the existing Abyssal Whip guide for the weapon chain. This material page covers the leather component without replacing that progression guide.

Fix material mismatches at the station

If Scorch Leather is unavailable, first confirm the Advanced Tannery. If the recipe is short on adhesive, check for Acrid Adhesive, not ordinary Adhesive. If the final armour recipe is short on shells after you finish tanning, review its direct shell allocation in addition to the shells consumed by leather processing.

If a finished item is still unavailable despite sufficient leather, inspect its other ingredients at the correct destination station. Making more leather cannot supply missing Desert Cloth, Infinity Cloth, Adamant Bars, or Gypsum Wax. Separate the remaining shortage from the leather chain so the next gathering trip has a specific purpose.
