Make Swamp Thread in RuneScape: Dragonwilds by processing 1 Swamp Weed at a Spinning Wheel. Each conversion produces 1 thread and awards 40 Artisan XP. For an early supply, search the ground beside the green poisonous water in Bloodblight Swamp, collect the small plants, and return to your wheel. Bring antipoison protection before entering the region.
The difficult part is finding the plant, rather than obtaining a special crafting ingredient. Swamp Weed blends into the ground around trees and water. Swamp Thread is the finished material: collecting the weed alone will not satisfy a weapon recipe that asks for thread. If you already have access to Domri's relevant stock, buying Swamp Weed provides an alternative to searching the swamp; you still need to spin it yourself.
Swamp Thread Recipe and Item Details
| Detail | Value |
|---|---|
| Input | 1 Swamp Weed |
| Processing facility | Spinning Wheel |
| Output | 1 Swamp Thread |
| Experience awarded | 40 Artisan XP |
| Thread weight | 0.3 |
| Thread stack limit | 50 |
The 40 is an experience reward, rather than an Artisan level 40 requirement. Do not postpone gathering solely because you have not reached that level. The production step uses the Spinning Wheel; a Loom, Crafting Table, or weapon bench is not the station that turns this plant into thread.

Check the item name when collecting the output. Swamp Thread, Wool Thread, and Coarse Thread are separate materials. A stockpile of another thread does not cover a recipe that specifically calls for this one, even though the materials use the same general processing facility.
Find Swamp Weed in Bloodblight Swamp
Bloodblight Swamp lies southeast of Fractured Plains and east of Whispering Swamp. Approach through Fractured Plains, then look for the region's green, murky waterways. For a first gathering trip, use those visible water edges as your search area instead of wandering across the entire swamp.
Swamp Weed is a small green plant growing close to the ground. Look beside trees, along the banks of the poisonous water, and on nearby patches of land. Some plants sit a little farther inland, so a short sweep around a promising bank can reveal more than a search directly along the waterline. The plant's colour makes it easy to overlook against the surrounding vegetation.
Move slowly enough to identify individual pickups. A distant view of a tree or a river is useful for navigation, but it will not necessarily reveal the tiny plant beneath it. Once you recognise your first Swamp Weed, examine the same kind of ground nearby before moving to a different stretch of bank. This gives you a repeatable visual search pattern without depending on an exact coordinate.

A suitable collection sequence is:
- Enter Bloodblight Swamp with antipoison protection available.
- Locate a green waterway and approach the adjacent land.
- Check the ground around trees and the edges of the bank for small green plants.
- Pick up Swamp Weed and confirm the inventory item name.
- Search a little farther inland around the same bank, then move to another nearby patch if needed.
- Leave when you have the quantity for your intended craft, rather than extending the trip simply to fill a stack.
The plant pickup gives 1 Swamp Weed. Because spinning is a one-to-one conversion, each collected plant covers one thread in your target recipe. Use the required amount as a stopping point for the trip, especially while you are still learning the swamp's layout.
Prepare for the Poisonous Gathering Area
Antipoison protection is the important preparation for Bloodblight Swamp. The region's poison makes a casual search risky, particularly when you are stopping repeatedly to inspect the ground. Carry your protection before setting out; reaching a weed patch is not useful if you cannot stay there long enough to collect it and return.
Keep the trip focused on the plant. Bloodblight Swamp contains other resources, and gathering everything you notice can turn a short thread run into a much longer excursion. Collect optional materials only when doing so will not interfere with your return. A small, completed thread batch is more useful than losing track of your original goal while searching unfamiliar terrain.
Swamp Weed also has a separate use in Lesser Antipoison Potions. If you intend to make those potions as well as thread, keep a portion of the weed unprocessed. Spinning all of it removes that raw ingredient from your immediate supply. Decide what you will reserve before loading the wheel so that your next trip is not delayed by an avoidable shortage.
Use a return route you already understand. If you have an established teleport connection serving the area, it can reduce the return journey; the thread recipe itself does not require building a new teleport point. For a first small batch, travelling home with the weed and processing it at an existing base is enough. Choose a trip you can complete with your current protection and supplies rather than treating the swamp as a place to stay indefinitely.
Other Ways to Obtain the Raw Plant
Collect Weed During a Kletterbuja Kara Visit
Swamp Weed can also be found inside Kletterbuja Kara. This gives you another opportunity to collect the raw ingredient when your exploration already takes you into that vault. Check for the plant during the visit and bring any collected weed back to your Spinning Wheel.
Keep the two tasks distinct: visiting a vault provides a gathering opportunity, while the conversion remains a base processing job. You do not need a different Swamp Thread recipe for cave-grown weed. Equally, finding weed there does not make every vault a guaranteed source of the plant. Bloodblight's visible water edges remain the clearer starting point when you are making a dedicated trip specifically for thread.
Use Swamp Weed from Farming
Swamp Weed can be obtained through Farming as well as gathering wild plants. If your farm already produces it, direct part of that harvest into thread and save the rest for any recipes that consume the plant itself.
Count the actual weed you harvest before choosing a crafting batch. The thread conversion does not change with the source of the plant, but a crop harvest and a single wild pickup are different acquisition methods. Plan from the items in your inventory rather than assuming a particular yield per plot or a fixed harvest interval.
Farming is useful as a continuing supply option once it fits into your existing setup. For an immediate missing ingredient, gathering near the poisonous water or using an available merchant stock can be more direct than reorganising a farm solely for a small thread requirement. Choose the source that is accessible at your current progression point.
Buy Swamp Weed from Domri
Domri - The Merchant sells Swamp Weed for 18 Garou Chit when the relevant stock is available. This is a raw-material purchase: take the weed to a Spinning Wheel afterward. Merchant access gives later players another way to supply the same recipe without making each batch a separate swamp expedition.
Check Domri's actual stock before planning around this route. It is an alternative for players who can already reach and use the merchant, rather than a prerequisite for making their first thread. If the weed is unavailable to you, return to gathering instead of treating the missing shop entry as a crafting failure.
Domri can buy Swamp Thread for 6 Garou Chit, but that does not mean he sells the finished thread. Distinguish the item being sold from the item being purchased when using the shop. For thread production, the useful purchase is Swamp Weed, followed by the normal spinning step.
Process the Weed at Your Spinning Wheel
Bring the collected, harvested, or purchased Swamp Weed to a Spinning Wheel. The input source does not alter the recipe or the finished item. You can use the same wheel that processes other thread materials, but select and load Swamp Weed for this batch.
- Interact with the Spinning Wheel.
- Put the Swamp Weed into the input slot.
- Allow the station to process the plant into Swamp Thread.
- Collect the finished thread from the output.
- Keep any reserved raw weed outside this batch.
- Take the thread to the crafting facility used by your target item.

There is no need to convert the finished thread into cloth before using it in the direct recipes below. Those recipes ask for Swamp Thread itself. Likewise, a weapon's final crafting facility is separate from the wheel that supplies this ingredient: prepare the thread first, then use the correct bench for the finished product.
For a small missing quantity, one wheel is enough to follow the production chain. Multiple wheels can process separate batches if your later material supply warrants them, but adding facilities does not change how much weed each thread consumes. Start with a specific craft and increase production when you have a reason to keep a larger reserve.
Direct Swamp Thread Requirements
The following examples show the thread portion of each recipe. They help you decide how much weed to collect; the finished items also require other ingredients.
| Target item | Swamp Thread needed | Final crafting facility |
|---|---|---|
| Blightwood Wand | 2 | Mystic Forge |
| Blightwood Battlestaff | 3 | Mystic Forge |
| Blightwood Shortbow | 3 | Fletching Bench |
| Blightwood Longbow | 6 | Fletching Bench |
| Hunter Stagbow | 4 | Fletching Bench |
| Iron Crossbow | 6 | Fletching Bench |
| Angler's Hat | 4 | Crafting Table |
| Abysmal Whip | 3 | Blacksmith's Bench |
Read the full target recipe before departing. Thread can be the ingredient you are missing, but collecting it will not replace the item's wood, metal, cloth, or other components. This is particularly useful when a weapon recipe contains both a processed material and a similar-looking raw ingredient: finish each required material separately.
The Abysmal Whip entry refers to that named weapon. Do not treat it as a complete acquisition route for the separate Abyssal Whip. Similarly, the wand, battlestaff, and bows have different thread requirements; choose the exact item you intend to craft before setting your gathering target.
For one Hunter Stagbow and one Angler's Hat, reserve 8 Swamp Thread, supplied by 8 Swamp Weed. Add any weed you want to keep for potions separately. A single combined target like this is enough to plan the trip without making a large surplus of a material you may not need immediately.
Check These Steps If Production Stalls
| What you see | What to check |
|---|---|
| You reach the swamp but cannot spot the plant | Inspect the ground beside green water and nearby trees at close range; check a little inland too. |
| You have weed but the equipment recipe still lacks thread | Process it at a Spinning Wheel and collect the finished output. |
| Your other thread stock does not satisfy the recipe | Confirm that the required item is specifically Swamp Thread. |
| You are waiting to reach Artisan level 40 | The conversion awards 40 XP; that number is not a level requirement. |
| Domri does not offer finished thread for sale | Buy Swamp Weed if available, then spin it; his thread buy price is for purchasing your item. |
| You used the weed needed for a potion | Set aside the raw portion before processing your next batch. |
Store the finished material as thread until you are ready to use it. Swamp Thread stacks to 50, while raw Swamp Weed stacks to 99 and has weight 0.4 per item. Those are different inventory limits, so leave room for the output when handling a larger supply. For a short weapon or hat batch, the more relevant check is that the collected thread covers your exact target and the remaining raw weed still covers any potion plans.
See the whip crafting route for the requirements and steps of that next task.
